The 3 theories

The trailer for spectre has many narrative techniques typical of Hollywood action films . One of these techniques is Barthes enigma codes . At the beginning of the trailer , we the audience get a sense of Barthes enigma code because there is an unknown man with a mask on which gets the audience questioning who he could be . Next there is another clear enigma code when Daniel Craig who plays the main character James Bond lays down with a gun pointing to a man in another building and from this the audience can infer that action is about to happen . Also in the trailer , we hear a conversation between Bond another man but all we hear is Bond saying " where is he ? " and the other man saying " He's everywhere " , which gets the audience thinking who they could be talking about and why they are talking about it . There are also action codes where we see very short shots of chasing , fighting and shot out scenes which all gets the audience excited .

Another technique that we see in the trailer is Propps character theory . From the trailer , we can immediately see that Bond is the hero in the film . One man in the trailer is Bond's helper as he is there to give him advice and give him a hand . Also in the trailer we get to see some people that Bond is up against . These people are called the villains and there is usually one main villain that is behind it all but allows its sidekicks to do the work for him/her . Daniel Craig's character does fit into the role of Propps theory because he is a typical sort of hero that is up against a villain and he trys to solve problems which is clearly shown in the trailer . As a result of this being shown in the trailer , it gives the viewers visceral pleasure because the audience find t exciting and interesting and would want to watch the full film .

Finally we get to see Todorovs theory in the trailer . However , it doesn't follow the order in what he believed because it starts off with disequilibrium not equilibrium . This makes more sense however because its an action film and gets the audience of the trailer engaged with it more and cuts straight to the action . The disequilibrium part of Todorovs theory is when there's a problem and something bad happens and this is what we see in the trailer of the film .
