independence day case study

The production company of the film is 20th century fox .

This film also fits into the action genre .  This is because in many parts of the film , fighting happens and the element of war is in the film which is why it has factors of the action genre in it .

The narrative of the film fits into the sci-fi genre because it is about aliens invading the world and trying to take over . This is sci-fi because the sub genre for it is alien invasion .

One of the main characters in the film ( Will Smith ) would appeal to an audience because he is one of the hero's in the film and he is black . This doesn't always happen in Hollywood films because the hero's are usually which men . Therefore , this would appeal to an audience because its something different .

The mise-en-scene in the film fits into the sci-fi genre because there is advanced weapons and air craft props that the aliens have which fits into the genre well .

The IMDb rating for independence day is 6.9/10 .
The reviews and ratings for the film by users is 5050 with some saying that the film is bad and some saying the film is good and questioning those that don't like it .
some comments include " Sometimes you wonder just how bad a movie can be " "Personally I think this is the best movie of the 90's " "It is absolute rubbish.v "

The budget of the film was 75 million US dollars . On the opening weekend , the film made 50,200,000 million US dollars .

One of the main characters ( Will Smith ) has appeared in other sci-fi and action movies like i robot . The director has also made many other sci-fi films like Godzilla and The Day After Tomorrow .

The main star in the film Will Smith .

None of the main characters in the film or the director is mentioned in the trailer .

The audience would enjoy tense parts in the film and scenes where there is action and fighting .
One part of the film that the audience would enjoy is when the aliens first arrive . The audience would get visceral pleasure because they get a feeling of tension and excitement as the space ship arrives over America . A second part that the audience would enjoy is when the aliens attack . This is because the audience gets vicarious pleasure as they would feel sympathetic towards the people that are being attacked . They would also get voyeuristic pleasure because the audience can see how the different characters react in different situations . Finally , another part in the film the audience would enjoy is the presidents speech to the troops because they get voyeuristic as they can make a connection with the words that president says in his speech .

writing a film pitch

Title and tagline: The title for my film is Unlawful  and the tag line for it is ‘No face no case’

Genre (and sub-genre if applicable): The genre of this film is Drama and the sub genre is Action .

Logline – one sentence that sums up the film and hooks people in (25 words or fewer): An unexpected group of teenagers join forces as their parents have been thrown in jail for crimes they didn’t commit and its time for the teenagers to fight back with out being seen.

Other successful films that are similar to yours:

Narrative structure – what happens in the film and in what order (max 100 words): 10 teenagers living in London are left without parents as false allegations have been made by the government that resulted in them getting chucked into prison for life . The desperate teens come together to try and get their parents back and try to outsmart the government. If they get caught then they are at risk of being put into prison themselves, so the stakes are extremely high .

Hero/heroine, their desires, the conflicts they encounter etc.: The teenagers have to face cameras , police interrogation and a lot of paranoia . They have to get themselves out of big situations and figure out codes to hack systems .

spectre

I chose this film because it is a brand new James Bond film that was released very recently . I also chose it because it looks like an action packed film that looks interesting to watch .

The film production company behind the movie is Columbia pictures .

This film fits into the Action genre . This is because a lot of drama seem to happen in the film . This includes chases , fights , violence and under cover work . This is demonstrated in the trailer which gets peoples attention and makes some want to watch the film .

The man that playes James Bond is Daniel Craig . He is well known for playing The role of James Bond and has also appeared in other films , for example The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo . The director of the film ( Sam Mendes ) is also well known for making action films and in particular , the James Bond films .

The release date for the film in the UK was on the 26th October 2015.

The first trailer that got released for the film was on the 27th March 2015.

There has been a teaser trailer that was released in march to give people a taste of what to expect from the main trailer and film . One of the characters from the film also done an interview on Good Morning Britain .

The reviews for this film were ok . People either really liked it or was really disappointed with it . Quite a few people were fairly disappointed with the film because they said it was a bit too predictable .
Quotes from reviews included "Many parts of the film feel like a throwback to classic Bond"
"The performances were just fine but the story line is so terrible"
"Really poor plot"

The budget for Spectre budget was $245000000

The main star in the film is James Bond ( Daniel Craig )

Daniel Craig has appeared in 3 007 films and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo .

LR post

EBI: Some of your comments are a bit sweeping (too broad and general) - your LR should clarify this.

LR: I think the target audience for Avengers Age Of  Ultron is for people aged 8 and over . I think this because young people of this age in particular males are into films that have a bit of action an adventure in . As a result of this ,  families that have younger children would be attracted to the film because they would want to take their kids to see it . I think that the people that go to see the film are of a middle class that have a decent education . It would also take the interest of teenagers and young adults that have an interest in sci-fi films that have heroes and villains because it has action and adventure in it which people like them .

I think that this film was successful at box office because the first film was released in 2012 and Age of Ultron got released in 2015 which means it took 3 years for the second film to come out. This means that people would of really wanted to see the second film to see what its like . It was also available to see in 2D , 3D and in imax . 3D and imax would of attracted a lot of people who would of brought tickets specifically for 3D or imax . Finally ,  it was successful because  people would of also brought tickets to see the film in 2D which would of sold a lot because it is cheaper .

camerawork : minority report shot-by-shot analysis

The medium close up shot allows the audience to see the characters facial expressions and shows them how they are feeling . Behind the people you can see stairs and as they are at the bottom of them it suggests that they have entered the area that they are in . The characters also have a bit of a surprised look which can show the audience they are shocked to see what they have found or seen . Also , the fact they are all lined up suggests that they are serious and makes them look more powerful .

The wide shot gives the audience an incite of the location that the characters are in and in this case its an alleyway . The image shows a man running away from something and the camera looks as if it has been zoomed out . This makes the person look small and as a result the audience could think that there's not much hope for him . This can make the audience have sympathy for the man because he could be in trouble . The derelict car that is there could make the audience infer that the man's future doesnt look to bright .

The close up shot lets the audience see the persons facial expression and how he could be feeling . It looks as if the man is about to say something and it looks as if he is going to do something that could surprise the audience . The audience can interpret this by reading his body language and seeing his facial expressions . The camera has zoomed in slightly to help show his expressions more . The angle is a little bit high which makes him look weaker and a little bit helpless.

my fruit bowl

My theme for my fruit bowl was Autumn . I chose the image in the top right hand corner to get different colours to colour in my fruit bowl . I added the colours by using the eyedropper tool . By using this tool you can select colours from an image you have put into photoshop and then put the colours you have chosen into an image.

For my second image I still stuck with the Autumn theme . This time however I got two images from google to put into my picture . The first image I used as a background and the second image I used to put into one of the fruits . I did this by selecting parts of my image then I went to paste special and hovered over then clicked on paste into . My image then got pasted into parts of my fruit bowl.
